Stray Care
A stray dog is a mongrel which is a scavenger. They are hit my moving vehicles. They sometimes bite and cause rabies. They suffer from frequent skin infections. They give birth to unwanted puppies most of which parish because of disease, road accidents and malnutrition before reaching maturity. A stray dog is a domestic animal on the verge of becoming feral. In some extremely rare instances stray dogs are known to attack the young children and the frail elderly and kill. Stray dogs are a menace made by man. The answer is to adopt and take care of the stray dog. Just feeding is not taking care but giving it a home to live in is definitely taking care. A owner or a pet parent is important because a stray has as much capacity to love as any pedigree and responsible ownership is beneficial for the stray. Responsible ownership is not leaving a dog on its own at the middle of a busy thoroughfare but to take it home and care for it and stopping it from getting killed or hurt. Providing a safe premise is of paramount importance but in a country like India it is a dream far from reality for here even human beings don't have enough to arrange a square meal in a day. Somehow it doesn't feel right to prioritize the human over the dog. But then again it doesn't in any way mean that we must condone cruelty done unto the stray dog till we are able to pull all our fellow citizens from below the poverty line. The stray dogs need to be taken care of in a responsible way. All my dogs were adopted stray dogs. Only my present dog is a Labrador Retriever. Therefore, I know that it doesn't matter at all whether your dog is a stray dog given a home in your home or a pedigree bought for a price from a trader selling puppies for a profit, the dog will be a dog showering you with love and companionship.
