Genesis of the Name

I love a dog. So, I wanted to build a website dedicated to the dog and the dog lovers. As with everything new the most challenging part is to take the first step which is to choose a name. I thought that the name should be short and easy, nothing remarkable but endearing. It should have the aura of the remarkable experience of owing a dog. I considered words like tail-wagger, friend, compassion, care, dog, pet, canine, store, treasury, mart. I checked the thesaurus. But I couldn’t find anything that would match the idea of it glowing in my heart. The heart glowed but the head couldn’t reciprocate. It was going on for about 5 hours and then suddenly as if by magic the head opened up to what the heart meant. The words ‘Dog’s Delight’ came up. I loved the rhyme and alliteration. Then as I tried to buy the domain, Google objected to the apostrophe. That objection led to perfection for the word ‘ Doggo’ shined bright as a replacement for ‘Dog’s’. So, it became ‘Doggo Delight’. I am elated to get a name that reflects all the love and wonder in my heart. The alliteration is just right; and then ‘Doggo Lingo’ is the new happening thing that has successfully built a language of love based on the relationship between a human and a dog seen in the context of an urban culture which increasingly relies on dogs as emotional companions rather than workmates.

Keeping a dog is not child’s play for a dog is nothing but a child in disguise wearing a fur and having a canine and a tail. So, the dog needs care and in return you get companionship which goes much beyond the measure of love that you are capable of measuring out to your doggo. It all started with a partner in hunting and all that wandering together in the wilderness through the centuries cemented into a relationship which is unprecedented for it is an inter species relationship not replicated anywhere in the animal kingdom. From a working mate to an emotional companion, the synthesis of the human-dog partnership in survival is both inspiring and insightful for it is also about conditioning behaviour and thus at the very foundation of the enterprise called education upon which rests the future of humanity.

This page also provides you with an opportunity to interact with us. You can express your opinion here and we would really love to know that.

Page 3 - My Store And Services - We offer certain services and consultation. We make door step delivery of dog food, medicine, grooming kit, training kit, adoption kit and dog toy. We also provide consultation services regarding breed selection, adoption preparation, behavioural issues, training needs, basic first aid and grooming requirements. This page gives you the details of all that and the charges involved in availing the services.

Page 4 - Dog's Diary - This is a perspective of a dog as it might see the circumstances around it. The dog is the Labrador Retriever that I have at home. She is a kiddo thinking of us a pack leaders and veritable Gods and Goddesses. You will find a unique point of view in these blog pages. A dog writing its own diary would be true if the doggo was able to think in human terms. However, the doggo is not made into a human being but retains her essential canine characteristic and that often makes the narration rather funny.

Page 5 - Should I Adopt A Pet Dog - This is a book that I wrote on the topic of the emotional aspects of adopting a pet dog and the implications of such an act on our life. It is an invaluable handbook or help book for first time pet owners or pet parents. It tells you about what to expect from the relationship. It also tells you ways about how pet dog adoption or ownership can add to your stress or soothe your stress.

Page 6 - Diet - A living thing needs to eat and what it eats determines how well it lives. Food is a very important part of owning or adopting a dog, more so, because there is aggressive marketing of packed dog food by MNCs involved in the making and selling of such food. Feeding your dog soothes your soul and therefore, you must know what is to be fed and what is not to be fed. This page equips you with that life saving information.

Page 7 - Pet Store - As you adopt a pet dog, you will need a few accessories and essential items. Where do you get that? You can get that from online marketing websites or you can get that from offline retail stores. Offline retail stores are places where you can get the feel of the product. This page points you to such stores in the city of Guwahati, Assam (my present location).

Page 8 - Vet Directory - Your dog is a living thing and living things fall sick. Sometimes they recover on their own and sometimes they succumb to the disease and die. Your dog may also meet with an accident. The vet will help you in your endeavour to relieve your pet dog's pain. The vet will show you a treatment to cure a disease and ensure healthy life for your pet dog. A good vet is a blessing and a bad vet is a curse. This page directs you to vets in the vicinity of my present location. I intend to add more vets to this directory. You can help me do that by recommending a vet.

Page 9 - Vet-on-Call - In times of medical emergency you may not know whom to call. A dog is not a human being and their its medical needs need the services of a veterinary doctor. If you get someone to visit your home, then that will be best. Of course, the home visit will be chargeable. But still it would save you from the hassle of taking your dog to a clinic. The last thing that a sick dog wants to do is to travel and you can save it from all that trouble by asking the vet to visit your home.

Page 10 - First Aid and Basic Medicine - At times there is no time to rush to the vet and then first aid can make a big difference between life and death. This page makes you capable of handling such unforeseen emergencies. This page won't make you a vet but will give you a window of well being before you could take your dog to the vet.

Page 11 - Pet Registration - Nobody does that. I don't know of anybody who has done it. But then it is the law and the law needs to be adhered to. The process of registration is not very clear and not really accessible. This is little and vague information available online and offline. All the same the law stands true and we must be aware of it and its implications. Knowing the law of the land always helps for that way you are aware of the social necessities.

Page 12 - Training - You are not Phantom and your dog is not Devil, the wolf. Then you are also not Tintin and your dog is not Snowy. It means you need to train your dog to heed your command both in public and in private. Doing that is easy because your dog is genetically programmed to treat you by default as the pack leader. You are your dog's Super Hero. But then do remember that with great power comes great responsibility as Spiderman reminded us in that super hero movie. The page teaches you the tricks of the trade.

Page 13 - Grooming - Your dog stays with you and your dog naturally attracts fleas and ticks. Parasites are good neither for you nor for your dog. Grooming curbs the parasites and makes life an easy and comfortable journey. Taking care of your dog builds the bond, gives you a purpose and helps your EQ. And then we all know that cleanliness is godliness more so as your dog as a propensity to be attracted to the smell of rot coming out of the garbage and all places dirty and disease prone. The page is dedicated to good grooming practices.

Page 14 - Stray Care - Stray dogs are an inseparable part of human society, more so, in poor neighbourhoods in which affording a dog is not a viable option in the struggle of survival. In India a stray dog is a common sight. Some consider it a menace. Some see it as an opportunity to play the good Samaritan. Neither the dog catcher and the animal pound or shelter nor feeding the stray dog and then leaving it on the road to be hit by a speeding vehicle is not the solution. But the only solution is adoption and responsible ownership. This page puts focus on that. The motto of the page is that a stray dog has as much potential as any dog with well documented ancestry.

Page 15 - Career Opportunities - I am a teacher, teaching teenagers on the verge of becoming adults. So, naturally I must talk about career. When I was a teenager, nobody guided me about viable career option matching with my aptitude, attitude and values. In those days counselling was not the in thing. Born in the lower middle class, earning a livelihood was a predominant concern. Job satisfaction was just a sweet sounding word carrying little meaning. The generations of today are more well informed but still there is a lot of ignorance about viable career in the field of human-dog relationship. The page clears the cloud and points to a direction opening up unexplored avenues.

Page 16 - Stories - Can any experience be complete without its set of stories? Life is a story of many hues and colours. Our stories are our identity and our stories are our learning launchpads. We are our stories and as we weave our stories, we become our stories telling each other of essential life skills. In this page we share stories related to dogs. It is a page to explore the possibilities of the relationship between the human and the dog.

Page 17 - Gallery - You are a celebrity for your dog. This page celebrates that through your photos clicked with your canine partner. You share your photos with me and your photos with your pet dog adorn this page. It is a space to plant all that positive energy and make it a garden of beautiful and inspiring experiences. In this page your pictures speak, speak of that special bond which made the wolf into a dog, the most loyal and the most faithful of all companions that can be dreamt of.

Page 18 - Dog Bite, Diseases & Allergies - A dog bite is not a pleasant experience and can even be fatal. So, we must know how to prevent it or how to treat it. Our dog is a living thing and therefore it is susceptible to pathogens and diseases some of which are infectious. If we are aware then we can stop the infection from spreading. Allergies and phobias are strange conditions but for the people having those, these conditions are as real as the Sun rising each day from the East. This section talks about all that to make us aware of the risks involved in owning a dog.

Your suggestions for improvement will be incorporated in this space. This space is dedicated to all those things that I failed to address as I embarked on this journey of making this website dedicated to the magical inter species relationship between the doggo and the hooman.
